Design and Build Recruitment Database system using Server Side Oracle 7 and Client Side Visual Basic. Entire system built using Oracle or VB tools (SQL*Loader, SQL*Plus, PL/SQL, VB 5.0, Crystal Reports, Forms). Repeated whole process using Access as the database to provide a mobile solution to the same problem. Then again to provide SQL Server solution for another client. Installation and connection of small NT4 Network, Internet Access, Small Business Server.

Development

Software Development, part of a team developing Client end software, linking the COM and CORBA using Visual Basic 4 and Iona’s Orbix, to simultaneously access several product design databases on various platforms in various countries via the STEP standard. Also implemented some server code. Responsible for documentation of the software.
Other partners in the £4m EC RiseSTEP project include: Aerospatiale, BMW, Dassault, Rover, Volvo, Renault, Matra Datavision, Prostep Gmbh.

Test House Manager, Database Design

Responsible for all testing and certification at large (500 tonnes melting/week) Steel Foundry. Supervision, integration, logistical planning and maintenance of Spectrographic and Mechanical Testing Laboratories and staff. Each laboratory running bespoke software. Supervision, integration and planning of machining facility, staff, sample production and processing, outside inspection (Lloyds/TUV) of Quality Documentation to ISO9000. Developed Product Tracking and Certification Software and databases using Visual Basic, Crystal Reports, and Access to replace primitive card index systems and optimise throughput.
